Original Submission by Samantha Wynne

Cemented

Am I too immovable?

Too heavy to swim in you as I am?

Do I barricade you,

Stop you from reaching the shore’s warmth?

You must long for the specks of sand,

Swirling in you perfectly,

As nature intended,

All I cannot be,

And yet, you will return

Tomorrow you will spit out blunted glass and spiral homes,

To slash against me once more,

Chip me away, piece by piece,

Carry me into the depths of you,

Steal my armor and beat onto my naked shell

I will watch you retreat, a

And I will love you in my loneliness,

My body has hardened to this form to withstand your rage,

So, I will wait for high tide to kiss you again.
