Celestial Transitions

By Vihani Gupta

I emerge into the sky as a new moon,

Invisible in the daytime.

As a few days go past,

I become a Waxing Crescent, becoming sublime.

Three days after, I become a First Quarter,

Left side lit up.

As the sky and stars become supporters,

I wax, growing into a Waxing Gibbous.

Day by day, slowly but surely,

I become a bright Full Moon.

Still shining purely,

I shrink into a Waning Gibbous.

Few days pass by, a change in sight,

I become a Third Quarter.

As I light the sky bright,

I come close to my last stages, a Waning Crescent.

I shine like the stars in the night, so divine,

A bit visible to the people on Earth.

I transform into a New Moon, so fine,

Starting the cycle again.
