Can You Listen?

How will the sky look through the bars of a cage?

Free and fresh? Or dull and strange?

We were made for the sky, to prosper and fly,

But our wings are bound, left to die,

What did we do? Where did it go wrong?

Weren't we going just fine along?

Weren't we the best of friends?

Is this broken bond something you can mend?

Every creature has a right to live and love,

But where did your love go? Disappeared above?

We cry and we plead, but you never listen,

Just objects to play with, in prisons that glisten,

We, birds, were meant to prosper and fly,

But you caged us down, left us to die,

You can never break this thirst of freedom,

Here are our pleads, can you listen?
