The city of joy with eternal glory

Carrying its past with unforgotten stories

Upholding a self-respect with no sorry

And sheltering everyone, with no worries.

The pleasant mother Hooghly with a lovey lap

Washing away all the tears and ugliness

And caressing her child for a peaceful nap

Where there is no room, for feeling loneliness.

The mighty Durga matha, with her kind benediction

To protect the soul of the poor and the needy

And fostering their thoughts with a strong conviction

That they can live gently and conquer the greedy.

In that realm of peace and calmness

The lives of Calcutta knitting their dreams

Where all silent celebrations triumph over the blindness

And where, all the God’s blessings gleams.
