Brothers Beyond Blood
By Abdul Aleem Jaseer
On our palms a stud,
your blood
and mine,
mixed to a clot, entwined;
true to what we promist,
in our hearts honest.
Sun of my moon,
the world's boon,
those nights I shall never rue,
where you were me and I was you.
For you are my brother, my eternal ace.
A bond that transcends blood, time and space.
Ruled we had over mind's game,
rued we had over heart's blame.
Yet what we had only grew stronger,
for we never compared, only combined our hunger.
But fate's truth turned out to be cruel,
and then all I had was myself to duel.
A space we'd taken, unknown,
your soul He'd taken, ungrown.
Split stitches,
grave glitches,
bruised to black and blue—
yet never the hue that was you.
As I watched you lay on that pyre,
our blood was then set on fire;
our skin split in gash,
our bones to ash.
I ached in your silence,
and so, made this solemn vow:
I'll walk this path wroth in pain,
I'll bear our blood's endless rain,
I'll wear your wrath as my mane,
I'll tear those limits, break all chain,
I'll never let your life be vain,
for I'll carve your name in divine stain.
And after all is done and through,
I'll leave them all and join hands with you.
