BROKEN WINGS

Growing up in a cocoon

I’d fold my wings up tight

Looking back there was no chance

They ever would take flight

Delving deep sure coats one ‘s heart

School teasing’s going down

With no chance of standing up

Broken wings can’t fly

Picking up the pieces; you

Sift through younger years

You carry hurt; old memories

Just your whole life long

Growing stops when you believe

You just not good enough

No confidence you give up quick

Can’t finish what you start

When you touch a butterfly

Each time it loses scales

Sensitive and broken down

You bound to lose your way

Still picking up the pieces

You fail to shed your skin

So aware your heart could tare

You bottle everything

Hurting through your junior years

You’ve wasted precious time

From extravert to introvert

It’s changed your ways; your mind

Trying to find those pair of wings

The ones that never grew

Helps to find the confidence

That once belonged to you.
