Bluebird on my windowstill

Bluebird on my window still , it lies still , barely breathing

Its wings not fluttering its heart barely beating

Its legs broken , its eyes filled with despair . begging for mercy

As it looks at me with black pools of ink with a drop of hope in them

So I take it in, try to feed it , to quench its little throat of thirst

As it slowly eats and drinks and tries to stand with little energy bursts

I stay with it the whole day making sure it does not injure itself

And little by little it gets better with both mine and times help

As days pass away it looks at me again , with those same eyes with a drop of hope in them

It looks to the skies , the bright blue skies , its home, and it longs to fly again

So it jumps from my window still onto my desk flapping its little wings lifted by the spirit of courage

But it does not reach very far for its wings are still broken , and its legs still unsturdy and its heart still not able to withstand the darkness of despair

But time still passes and it helps , it mends the wings and the little birds legs

The bird still has hope despite its numerous failed attemps

Because it knows that it belongs to the skies and that its wings will flap again majestically in attempt to reach them

So it jumps off my window still again but this time not onto my desk

It jumps off my window into the sky in an attempt to soar

But it does not soar, it falls

I stare at my window , panic gripping my heart

Has my bluebird fallen again? Has it it met its end?

But a second later I hear the flapping of wings and a dash of blue

And theres a blue bird on my window still

The blue bird has left now , for it has learnt to fly and does not need me any more

It now flies among its kind and soars the skies at home where it belongs

But still sometimes I see a dash of blue and a flapping of wings

And I anxiously wait

Wait so I can see

Wait so I can learn to fly

From the bluebird on my window still
