Blossoming Buds

By Tashreet Kaur

murky waters seemingly suffocate your roots

lust, gluttony and pride served on silver plates

a subtle miasma settles over the pond

humanity nitpicks the ill nature of mistakes

yet fresh green lily pads leisure afloat

somehow purity waits for your beauty

buds peak shy from their season

the past grasps hold of your throat, silencing your efforts of change

soon a beautiful pink reaches out of the sky

a desperate hand reaches for honor

a young lotus is born

your spirit eagers to a blossom
