Blossom to Maturity

Oh! How fast those days have gone,
The days of golden green,
But now I stand all alone,
Contemplating what they mean,
And trapped within flesh and bone,
I commence my journey to maturity.
Oh! How I miss them,
The weeks, carefree,
The hours full of sunlight,
No rules or responsibility,
But now they are lost,
And forevermore they will be.
Oh! How burdened I am,
Longing to feel carefree glee,
But now I look forward to the future,
And see knowledge and opportunity,
Along the oceans of life,
Despair and disparity.
Oh! How I miss the qualia,
Of my childhood, of my past,
As I trudge slowly through my life,
Searching the world for my telos,
Learning and living in my relentless search,
From the day I arrived to the day I depart.
Oh! How I fear the years of adulthood,
Where the days are grueling and the nights long,
For now in my teenage years,
I struggle through my emotions,
Fickle as the wind, yet scorching like fire,
Like music from Apollo’s lyre.
Oh! How do I conduct the symphony,
Of my dreams and my desires,
That spread from my soul,
Not akin to raging fire,
What should be a passion,
For my desires are not few.
But now I look to the horizon,
And see that the future is a life beginning anew,
As I hope for miracles,
Wherever the raging wind may blow,
Now I brace myself for the future’s obstacles,
As I take up the sickle and trough.
