Blindness Beyond Sight

One day when I sat to dine,
I heard a news headline—
A man killed his wife,
With a sharp knife,
After drinking a lot of wine.
For him, cruelty is fine.
This brought tears to my eyes,
For her love, is this the price?
Somewhere, girls are being molested,
Somewhere, innocents are arrested.
Years together, a couple lived,
Happiness was what she was promised.
And now, he cuts her into pieces—
Such cases, day by day, increases.
This is how humanity decreases,
Breaking my heart into pieces.
It’s not the eyes that are blind,
It’s the hearts that are blind.
Some people are involved in smuggling,
Some are losing money in gambling.
Having more wealth is their aim,
Doing wrong, and gaining fame.
People join politics,
Leaving behind their ethics.
This world is a place,
Where life is a race.
Living our own life,
No concern for others' strife.
We all go blind,
Leaving everything behind.
People who take the wrong turn,
For others, they have no concern.
What do they get in return?
In hell, they shall be burned.
It’s the good that we need to earn,
Eventually, to Almighty, we all return.
It’s not the eyes that are blind,
It’s the hearts that are blind.
I like the people whose eyes are blind—
They have the purest soul and mind.
They are so wise,
They are so nice.
Neither do they seek beauty,
Nor do they seek cruelty.
From all sins, they resist,
All those that persist and exist.
They have the kindest heart,
And are brilliant and smart.
Have you ever heard of a blind,
Killing innocents or being wild?
Have you ever heard of a blind,
Thieving someone or ever lied?
Have you ever heard of a blind,
Teasing girls, stalking behind?
Have you ever heard of a blind,
Bullying someone, any child?
Have you ever heard or seen,
As if it had never been.
They have the prettiest smile,
Their hearts are fragile.
They lead a beautiful lifestyle,
A life which is worthwhile.
It’s not the eyes that are blind,
It’s the hearts that are blind.
I conclude by posting a question:
Can the readers mention,
To whom do they find,
As truly blind?
Those whose eyes are blind?
Or those whose hearts are blind?
