Bleaching

Recently I saw an article that discussed skin bleaching,

I have so much to say on this topic don't worry I won’t start preaching.

The skin on your body was formed just for you,

Don't let anyone make you feel less than like an animal in the zoo.

Your melanin complexion helps to protect you from the sun,

Stop worrying about your complexion go out there and have fun.

The disturbing trend promoting the need for ethnics to bleach their skin,

Isn't in your best interest as only the manufacturer's pockets win!

Each one of us has unique features and beautiful complexions,

These are my deep sincere personal reflections.

In the past I was told I was too dark and told to bleach my body,

I was advised to take chicken pills as my natural physique was deemed shoddy.

Comments on how my natural hair should be straightened, especially for special events,

At the time piercing my self-esteem with multiple dents.

So you think it’s just skin bleaching but the demands will increase,

The expectation is to hate yourself until the day you decease.

Those younger than you are observing your self hatred,

Altering their features through purchased products, procedures and not knowing everything they have is sacred.

Instead of bleaching,

Think about the individual message you're teaching,

Not just for those you come into contact with,

Safeguard your cortex, your body's most precious device and just live.

You don't need to bleach yourself please believe me it’s true,

Without it the world is blessed with a spectacular creation, you!
