Bird Hunting

I sit, and wait with wild eyes and madness.

I sit and wait for love

It’s all I want… just love.

I check under beds, under rocks…

I found it!

You're holding it in the bed of your tender palms

Holding it so far from yourself, like it burns and stings and kills

Please, I'll take some, we’ll share it, with softness, with warmth, with flowers in meadows and children playing and wrinkles and coffee

“We can share!” I shout through the rain and fog and snow and hail

He smiles as he goes

I guess I’ll keep searching
