Between Battlefields and Blossoms

By Avani Oak

Poets are innocent fools

"The world is grey"

They say

No black, no white

There is only grey in between

Never seeing the world as it is

Only what it can be

Soldiers are hardened sages

"No one can pick up a gun

Not if they don't want to" They say

Bullets are black, shrouds are white

There is no grey

Between death and life

They see the world for what it is

Nonetheless praying for what it should be
