Betrayal's Aftermath
By Anjali Kedar Telang
I hear your words, a heavy sigh,
A question whispered, "Why is it I?"
You gave your all, your hand, your heart,
Then watched the one you helped depart.
A stranger now, a chilling face,
Replaced by distance, cold and space.
And others whisper, judge, and sneer,
Their careless words a sharpened spear.
They cannot see the truth inside,
The tears you feel but have to hide.
It hurts to see the masks they wear,
The kindness false, beyond compare.
Their colors change, a sudden shift,
Leaving your lonely heart adrift.
Their choices are their own to bear,
While you stand tall, beyond compare.
No, I won't be like this anymore,
A little selfish, I'll explore.
What was the point of being so kind,
When I was used and left behind?
