Beneath Your Name

Oh love , I thank you still –

For not arriving, yet staying at will.

Not for the days that bloomed like spring,

But for the ache your silence brings.

I live with pain, no end in sight,

A prayer I whisper every night.

My only cure is your name,

My every breath repeats the same.

God is my witness – I tried to let go,

I chased your shadow with tired eyes.

And in that pain, I found my art –

A thousand poems still ends in you.

You’ll go your way – I’ll stay and burn,

But love like this won’t ever turn.

You were my sky, I tried to fly,

And if I fall, I won’t ask why.

Even if you never turn around,

Even if your voice makes no sound –

I’ll still hold space beneath this sky,

For the chance, not the reason why.

And if one day our stars align,

I’ll still be yours – no grand design.

Not to erase what time has done…

Just to love you, like I always have –

Quietly, completely, one on one.

And if this ends is dust or pain –

At least I lived beneath your name.
