Being In An Underwater Coma.
By Fanan Rasheed
In her sleep
The very meagre hours at breaking dawn
When she closes her eyes in vain
She dreams or perhaps recollects
The faint details of good old days
Which seem so unreachable and
Too beautiful to be true.
When there existed hope,
Positive rays penetrating into her life,
Achievements that she brought home
Happily singing around the street.
Friends and folks to cheer her every day
A dad and mom with a reassuring wide grin
A little puppy to wave goodbye and greetings at.
A school wall with so many fond memories.
Yearly tours to breathtaking destinations
For a rejuvenation from the everyday hustle of life.
Now there's no chaos,
No loud noises to be heard
for about a mile or so,
No soul to embrace her state of mind.
She suddenly woke up screaming but
realizing that this has been her recurring schedule since the past three years.
Waking up horrified from a dream
Which slowly slipped into a nightmare.
She loathed reality
Hated the very reason that she was alive
For there was a tiny being developing
Within her belly
Without an identity
Without a family to name after
Without any guarantee whether it'll ever
See the outer world,
With a dark past.
Every breath she took was
Followed by a ruthless flashback
Throwing her to the dungeon of void.
She frowned looking at her body
Covered every inch of her skin
As though she was a living
Yet petrified mummy
So no one could pierce through it.
For she felt that every man who stared
At her could see right through the clothing,
Her body- torn and pinched
With several evident marks still persisting,
As if an animal had bitten & scratched her beautiful physique.
Now she lay as a lifeless heap of scrap
That anyone wouldn't dare to possess.
None would want her home,
To accept her as their better half,
To embrace her past &
Promise a better safe future
Away from the clutches of evil.
No painting could ever describe the
Depth of her pain that she experienced
Crying boundlessly so loud into the emptiness
For someone to come running to rescue
But not a soul turned back to have a glance
To see predators consuming every bit of her human flesh rejoicing, that too as a gang.
Blood poured out in umpteen millilitres.
Intolerable pain almost making her feel numb to the extent she couldn't feel herself.
Succumbing to harsh ferocity,
She fainted into circles of unconsciousness.
That rainy night when she stayed
Home alone for the very first time
She would never forget in her life,
How much ever she tried
It kept haunting her tranquility.
No human nor an animal
Should be put to such a rigorous torture
Beyond the capability of endurance
Not even wanted criminals who have to be put to death sentence.
She felt that being killed by a single gunshot would have been much easier and painless
Than having to die a thousand
deaths every single day.
Living day & night with the guilt,
the regret,the sorrow,
The unbearable grief &
burden of her past.
No Paranormal being would ever haunt
You as mercilessly as the unforgettable
Experience of being a rape victim does.
No capital punishment,
Death sentence,
Lifetime imprisonment,
Rallies,strikes and campaigns nationwide
Would ever bring back that old life,
To live without fear
That rape may never come to her or
Her girl child growing in her ever again.
For people of the world,
Rape cases are just mere insignificant columns in the smallest of corners in newspapers,
but to people who have experienced it,
death isn't scary enough as being alive!
Teach your sons, your daughters to respect himself, herself, their friends, their siblings, their parents and every stranger's body.
To not take 'any' '*body*' for granted
To satisfy their lusty needs or
To fulfill their psychotic intentions.
Schools and colleges
Do remember to teach
Every student you are preparing for the future beginning with not 26 alphabets but
As humans with humane feelings & sentiments.
Provide them with proper sex education & normalize the teaching of this subject
So that boys would never have to look at their opposite gender with curious eyes & deadly desire to quench their thirst
Or perceive them as articles of contentment.
To not find pleasure in the scream of cries of the other or own gender.
To consider a girl not as an object
Or toy to discard after use,
But as an angel sent from above
To maintain natural balance.
God created men first
Followed by women
To show that no man can ever thrive
Without a woman by his side.
To show that man and woman should go hand in hand,
co-existing side by side in harmony.
'Every Indian is my brother and sister'
Isn't just weightless words from our country's pledge but something
To be preached & put into practice in reality.
To be able to feel someone in their shoes
& not just judge fellow beings.
To not just show sympathy but to feel empathy to the ones in need.
To accept rape victims as
people of our own society &
To not push them into deeper wells of never ending torment.
To hold their hand and walk them through
This agony rather than abandoning them.
To not see them through another eyes
In a different angle
But to view them as humans first.
She repeated,no girl should ever
Have to go through her uterine wall and vaginal hole breaking
Into a tap of blood.
It hurts more than menstruation,
N-times more pain than at the time of delivery a baby.
Feed these scavengers with penalty
Such that they turn blind &
would never see a female body ever again
Cut off their reproductive organ
With a sickle or an axe or a saw &
Stick a drilling machine inside it from above
So that they would never be able
To feel at ease by snatching away
Another person's sanity & well-being.
Let them be thrown to oubliette
From where they can't crawl out
For a lifetime or more.
Cut them off from their family ties
And all worldy relations.
Never let them experience life or
Catch a glimpse of daylight
For the rest of their cursed lives.
This is her curse to all the men &
women who support men
In this obnoxious sin.
This is her final death wish
So lawmakers, prosecutors and justice providers make sure to fulfill it.
Ask them why they indulged themselves in such a dreadful crime.
To give her one good genuine justification so that
She could sleep peacefully at least
When she's gone and resting in her tomb
6 feet down the soil away from the grip of this cruel world.
They shall be doomed till posterity
They shall be burnt in hellfire
Till their skeletal ashes are reduced to become invisible to the naked eye.
Fed up of asking but still gonna repeat,
'Don't you guys have mothers & sisters at home?!..' Would you embrace &
let go of a person who did this to ur own people?
Or would you do the same as a practise to them at home?
