Before " The End "
By Shrimoyee Kundu
Is it wrong to feel happy and content
To suffice existing with just a little, until the very end
Is there a price to pay for every bliss ?
Even if, it is as simple as the dawn's kiss;
Am I to regret being joyous for more than a moment
Without having the debt for happiness, clouding with torment;
Am I allowed to feel alive?
To hear the whistling wind or the bright blue sky -
The majestic eagle up high,
Claiming the clouds, the sun, with every flight;
Could we have a moment to ourselves selfishly
To exist without a goal aimlessly,
Could being rich, was all along -
Meant to smile like children, would that be wrong ;
Did all that labour, which was to savour,
Our time with our family over some tea,
To garden a flower, or perhaps a tree;
Did all that treasure, is now a measure,
Of all the time that ran, in the hourglass of hopes and sand,
Now all that's left is an unfulfilled 'forever'
Amidst reality's cruel game of chess,
Must we never let ourselves forget;
That it wasn’t the destiny we anticipate
But the journey, before "The End".
