Before it All

In sunlit days, we'd sprint from school’s embrace, Through laughter’s echoes, racing down the lane, With eager hearts, we’d seek a warm, safe place.

The world was vast, where cool was not a chain, Just soaped-wet hands and bubbles set to fly, In innocence, we danced through joy and pain.

Pythagorean loomed like shadows passing by, Yet numbers held no weight, just facts we parade, Our dreams were simple, ever reaching for the sky.

Sidewalk chalk told our stories, brightly laid, Each scribbled line a map of carefree glee, In every moment, magic was displayed.

Now high school halls feel like the rapid sea, Where echoes of our childhood softly call, Well did I know how happy I could be?

In growing up, I see it now, the thrall,

The fleeting joy of moments lost in time, I wish I had known it all, before it all.
