Beauty Standards

By Ridhima Bhagawati

At the end of the day,

It’s not about the dress you wear.

But whether you are pretty enough

To belong in a poem.

To take up space while being thin

In a boy’s pumpkin mind.

And attract jokes

Into flirtatious signs.

At the end of the day, being pretty is not being beautiful,

I admitted with a sigh.
