Battle Of My Life

The devil had me in the first place,

He made me believe my heart need not to pace.

He explained to me that eventually everyone dies,

So what's the point to go through all the cries.

And i thought that the devil is right,

I tried to cut my wrist through a knife.

Fortunately, i failed successfully,

I thank God that I'm alive, truly.

But then the devil showed me his face with a grim,

He was holding a cup with blood filled to the brim.

He whispered, "Why fight when despair is your friend?" But a glimmer

of hope I refused to rescind.

I prayed for strength, for a reason to stay,

And slowly, I felt the darkness give way.

The devil's grip tightened, but my resolve grew,

For deep in my heart, I knew what was true.

Life's worth the struggle, each breath a gift,

Even through pain, the spirit can lift.

I stood my ground, stared him in the eye,

'I choose to live, not just to survive.'

With a scream of defiance, the devil did fade,

And in the light of my courage, shadows decayed.

Now I walk with scars but a purpose renewed,

Grateful for each day, for the strength I accrued.

The devil may tempt, but he'll find me strong,

For in the battle for life, I know I belong.
