Bastard's Elegy

His mother loves alcohol

As did his father who’ve since died

They were never together, yet never separated

They enjoy life’s pleasure

But ignored its true treasure

Perhaps it’s the Bible they were taught

Or it’s their parents, whom they fought

Rebellious to a fault, diverging further beyond

Creating their worse demons, they faced alone

At that place coldest on winter, beside the pond

Irredeemable, are they? Why have a spawn?

If not to cherish it as one would The Last Supper

Challenging all mortal odds like an infamous usurper

Alas, reality is but our yearn for fantasy

In a little bubble cradled by our vast galaxy

Indeed, in his heart there is a hole

That expands each time he lied

But saying he’s depressed is a bit overrated
