Awakening

Amidst the dark corners of my mind

A ray of light is shining bright

I look in awe as  my slumber breaks

I am awake

The world looks familiar but something is new

The grass is greener and the sky more blue

Travelling from the ocean of thoughts to the still lake

I am awake

The smouldering coals of anger

Have become flowers of compassion

My mind kicks in and tells me it’s fake

I am awake

The fire of passion had the fuel of fear

Rekindled with love, it makes everything clear

The fog of ignorance has started to abate

I am awake

I don’t desire the temporal world for it’s a poisonous kiss

My journey has started for finding eternal bliss

I can decipher between real and fake

I am awake

I picked up the Geeta, wondering about my karma

Found the refuge of Krishna, learning about Dharma

I will fulfil my duties and never forsake

I am awake

Feeling alive, with no fear of death

Entering the Kurukshetra of my mind on the chariot of breath

With the blessings of my guru, victory is mine to take

I am awake
