August Experience

Did it ever mean anything to you?

Did you think you’d get away with talking to two?

Your words, games and cheap little tricks,

They’ll come back to haunt you with a mess you can’t fix.

Late night conversations about stories past,

Couldn’t put the phone down even when it was five past.

Talking about our day and joking about a summer of love,

Knew we were trouble and didn’t care about the sky crashing from up above.

I never realized you weren’t mine to lose,

Didn’t imagine that I’d be in my feels singing the blues.

This august experience was a lesson to me,

That some things were never meant to be.
