As It Happened

The day was perfect all until then

Waking up to a bright day

Unaware of what was to be

And then it happened

It tore me to shreds

That everything we spent making

Building, adding every tiny intricacy

Everything was reduced to nothing in a matter of words

Having to move on from the past is no joke

Having to step into the future not knowing how to have hope

All that helps me rest is knowing that a future awaits me

But what keeps me awake is not knowing what’s ahead

I hope to fill that void

Else I shall collapse into myself

Is there anyone out there

Who can make me feel whole again

A life full of regrets with little to look back upon

The tiny insignificant things that brought me to this

The large significant things that shaped my path

Did they have to lead up to this?

What aches me every minute

Is not the reminiscence of a person

But regret that I stood by

And lost myself in the process

I fail to identify myself for who I am

I don’t know what I’m meant to do

Why was I wrong I ask myself every minute

If karma exists, am I its victim?

Does life truly hold something for me in it?

I ask myself before sleeping every night

It’s the hope that it does that lets me rest

And rise to see a new day
