As I Watched from Afar
By V. Mahanth Krishna
As I watched from afar, I couldn’t help but wonder,
And think about her all the time, day and night.
Those sweet smiles and twinkling eyes of hers,
Rival the very dark yet starry night skies.
As I talked with her, I couldn’t help but wonder,
Where was this soft and soothing voice all my life?
Her words, like honey they dripped,
From a honeycomb of beauty, morals and charm.
How is it possible? Me, a man of science,
Who questioned the existence of magic and art,
Has believed in the presence of an angel,
She is different in every way, than a mere mortal.
Her elegant gait, like a lioness she,
Yet on the inside, a kitten purrs.
She gives the radiant sun a run for its money,
When she looks into your heart, with those gem-studded eyes.
As I watched from afar, I couldn’t help but wonder,
Do I really stand a chance? Is it pure delusion?
With a queen among princesses in front of me,
Will I succeed? Oh! Only god knows what will become of me!
