Attention: Dear Future IITians


The IIT-JEE requires the best and most creative minds of our nation — the cream of young intellects who can lead the world. Please note these important points:


1. It is not necessary to study the entire syllabus, but your concepts must be clear.



2. Your comprehension, composition, and logical ability should be at least average.


At the high school level, your aggregate marks in Hindi and English should be a minimum of 60%.




3. IIT-JEE tests how you can develop your mind to find general solutions to natural problems — your applicative and analytical ability is also evaluated.



4. Your overall aggregate marks in High School and HSC (12th) should be above 65%.

Understanding Engineering


In Hindi, Engineering is called "Abhiyantriki" — derived from Abhi (all around) + Yantriki (engineering),

which means applying engineering principles all around our nature.

Evolution of Engineering Branches


Earlier, only four core branches existed:

Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, and Chemical Engineering.

Over time, many new specialized branches developed, such as:


Electronics Engineering, separated from Electrical Engineering due to its large-scale applications in devices and communication.


Information Technology (IT), introduced around 2000–2001, as computer applications expanded worldwide and technology transformed industries.

Engineering today is an integrated approach of Computer Science, Electronics, and Telecommunication.

This convergence is the foundation of Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
