Apricity

When the sun neither rises nor shines

on the poles with a lightless half-year,

yet it is a wonder of the world

people exulting with cheer.

In the cold dry snow

where most freeze to death,

emerges a spark of light

with each condensing breath.

An ounce of compassion

a glimmer of brilliance

faith to change the wintry world

preaching love, not resilience.

This warmth melts the sadness,

brings some hope in your life.

the one saving grace from above,

when sorrow and despair were rife.

So appreciate it while it's there

the warmth in the bleakest of days,

the apricity in your life

one you hope will forever stay.
