Apartment Number 24
By Sahil Attri
Apartment number 24, she lives there alone
Comes home late at night after her tiring day
Her mornings are silent and nights are darker
A spoon accompanies her with the meals
When she walks doing her households the footsteps are louder
Like a robot she functions, has no friends
She doesn’t have what it takes to stay in trends
That low light dining table is as empty as her soul
But her heart seems too heavy and ready to explode
I’ve never met a girl like this before, so why tonight?
Cause they’re forbidden by society and out of our sights
Energy has left her because it can’t stay with her melancholy
At such a young age she looks like hundred and forty
She gets up, go to work, sleeps and repeat
What she hides inside her, only she could see
This painting she kept staring sometimes reminds me of lost thoughts
Her eyes are so dry, I can compare it with draught
She has no one in her life, consequence of outlook she prefers
Her aura is dreadful, medical help I refer
When things go beyond our control one should lean on
Abandoned by family and cheated by partner, move on
I’m not certain too, its my assumption
She might have nothing like that don’t find conclusions
Maybe just a person bored with her life, no one to approach
Should work on eliminating the part, go and use that torch
Her coffee judges her, as she sips it without a smile
She never laughs or have with any other, but her frown face worth a dime
Curious I was, so looked out for her in the place she lives
The door was open, she wasn’t there, I witnessed everything I speak
I wrote to her that I came along, she replied yes, we had a great talk
She made me see her life’s routine with a clue
Pray I to you, pay a visit at Apartment Number 24 and she’ll welcome you
