Anxiety Is an Ocean

Anxiety is like an ocean,
It comes in waves.
Some are calm and bearable,
Some leave you drowned in a haze.
The freezing water fills you up
From your head to your toe.
It leaves you trapped and screaming
But with nowhere to go.
It seeps under your skin,
Runs through every vein
Yet nothing that you try
Will ever make it go away.
Anxiety is like an ocean
With waves so high and deep
That leave you locked inside this pit
With walls too slick and steep.
You'll run and you'll hide
But it's impossible to escape
The feeling of hopelessness
That fear and dread are your fate.
You can try and try
But nothing really works.
It's as though nothing will break
This insufferable curse.
Anxiety is like an ocean
That looks calm from the shore
But when you're in it, the storms
Will leave you chilled to your core.

I struggle with an anxiety disorder myself and ive never read somthing encompasses how I feel so well xx
You make people like myself feel seen thank you x
You have really encapsulated such heavy feelings into this poem. Ones that are so widely felt yet not recognised or talked about. I think this can really make people feel seen <3
