Another Shadow

By Riya Sinha

Once I was lying on my back

Staring mindlessly at the ceiling

I saw a spider web

In the shape of pendulum

Dangling through the wind.

Its shadow on the left

Looking like another gong

Colliding with each other.

Alas! It was just a shadow

Mere darker part of itself

I wonder if it knew at all

That it is not another swing

But it is just colliding with itself

Back and forth the wall;

Like our anger stands the other side

Of light, of hope, our soul

Leaving for rage.

I wonder in awe how

The other pendulum is nothing

Merely a darker part of ourselves.
