An Early Request

By Danielle Hazart

do not barricade me from myself

i am the gritty soil and the ancient varied pebble

the vast depth of knowledge and space

the very minerals born at the start of time

i am of it and i must go back to it

do not hold me hostage from my precious

the moving strings of my heart burrowed below

as they count my every mole every crater

i will hold their hands because they are mine

don’t keep me from them i will be alone

it will be dark and i will feel nothing

life love and warmth will be all surrounding

and i will not be able to feel a single thing
