An Abandoned Abode

Warm sunrays receive a cold welcome,

Rain droplets find no resistance.

Cool winds are treated to a frigid exterior.

The high-rise has a sole expression quite like the lone occupant- still air.

Its ghoulish appearance keeps the living at bay.

At night, a guardian lies on his charpoy, accompanied by strays.

I wake to this sight and wonder what it could have been.

A resting place for sleepy heads, a refuge for the weak and the weary.

Adults, a few with their animal companions, out for daily walks,

Ripples in the pool, footfall in the gym, old bones on benches.

Envious, dog-tired house helps comparing notes.

Staff working in houses they dare not dream of.

Switch to reality, dreams have found a resting place in its floors.

Sweat and tears buried and forgotten indoors.

An eye sore for some, tear drops for others.

Crushed dreams in the form of Abandoned homes.
