Amnesia Graced

By Rajiv Khandelwal

The boon

Of having amnesia

Is that when

One of her daughter-in-law

Verbally abuses

Declares herself as the sole victim

For all real and imagined woes

The other family members

Hearts pounding with worry

Learn of treatment

Meted out to their loved person

But the dear soul

Blessed with loss of memory

Does not even remember

Meeting her daughter-in-law

What can be said or done

When spiralling smoke

Forgets about the presence of fire

It rose from

While others felt the raw heat

Scorched by what she fails to recall
