Alone
By Neil Juneja
We travel, one as many, Many as one, But one isn't many, For company. A burning light in the distance, So very deep inside of me, Always there but never besides me.
They stand and stare, Like i would if i were there, What more can they do to prove, That they are what is inside of you. I look up and stare, At a pair of unblinking eyes hanging where, There once stood an upright chair. Such a fickle thing is life, Yet so beautiful, And beauty attracts us all, As i suppose it should. Beauty is only beautiful when it is flawed, I must be the most beautiful of them all. But beauty doesn't last, It turns to the mundane, And then in the end, Finally to pain. All things built must someday fall, Which is great, Because who wants to scale an old wall. But some things are just too precious to lose, Its like watching a shrinking fuse. Cheers fill my ears, As my eyes well up with tears The fuse is at its end, And i look up to see my only friend. Fantasies must come to an end, I realise that now as i go around the final bend, Finally resting my head, And imagine travelling again with my only friend
