His heart doesn't falter, not even missing a beat as the familiar voice lets out a blood curdling screech,

Intoxicated by the stifling scent of power, bloodshot eyes craving devine might as he forges his way through the treacherous climb.

The inky vines of greed tighten around his heart as the final embers of compassion are snuffed out by the rotting flesh,

His fingers stretch out, reaching for the celestial throne as he leaps from the pinnacle of earthly might, lusting for more.

His eyes widen with a fleeting grace as his fingers graze the heavenly seat and for a heartbeat almost God, he appears to be,

Yet in the grasp of flesh and bone, divine might is piercingly cold as sharp wind whips against his skin with a scornful scowl.

Scream rips out from his throat, the sound an identical twin of that of his fallen kin as he plummets down from the ethereal high,

Death, the chain of earthly tether proves to be stronger than the tainting pull of almost godlike domination.

His body crumples with a mocking thud, blood spattering on the surrounding mortal remains, yet another victim to the disgraced fall.
