Sitting here in this honoured place

Looking back to a time long not erased-

of lectures, stories and wonderful days.

When as I student I sat in this place.

My mentors, my guides and friends

who have given me so much, I hold dear.

Wise words and good counsel,

beckon my ears to lend and mind to think.

‘This is for your future’, be quick and learn,

and learn we did or didn’t.

Cherish the past to lead a happy life,

abundant with joy and promise of fruitful days.

Hold on to what is right and deny the wrongs.

Wise counsellors, I thank you all

for granting me wisdom and personality.

And now, as I recede into this honoured place

I recall all of yesteryear and say-

‘I am grateful. Then and now.’
