Alice set out to reach the highest mount,

in broad daylight, on the trek she went.

knowing there’d be a lot to surmount,

and if not, she would forever repent.

on the trek, on her way to the top

roses she saw, roses she went after.

then as she felt the petals,

she remembered the peak, she had to stop.

on the path she stepped again,

but a waterfall called out.

and it came to a halt, whatever she’d begun,

she loved the sound of water, forgot the trail of her route.

alas, she resumed her journey

but poison ivy trapped her.

she tried to save herself,

and rested for a while.

when the path called out again,

she listened with her eyes.

she followed the trail

but the moon had come out.

time had come to an end,

but the peak lay unscathed.

time would never extend,

only failure would remain.

It hurts me when I think about,

how great it would’ve been

had she first reached the peak,

and then smelled the roses,

then listened to the waterfall.

had she first reached the highest she could,

everything else wouldn’t be obsolete.

go climb the mountain, friend.

go touch the sky.

go, don’t try to comprehend

why you can’t walk on grass, if you want to run in the sky.
