Ah, The Life Of A Cat

By Freyan S. Wadia

Oh to be a cat!

To lay as still as a doormat

To do nothing all day

And then eat, sleep away

And occasionally, tear around the flat!

Oh to be a useless feline

Who fancies herself a creature divine!

No other’s wrath

Like the mangler of moths

And other such unfortunate beings benign!

Oh, to be a short-haired calico

And wrap the world around my pinky toe

Though they fatten me fine

Humans are uncultured swine

And their feet always stink, you know!

Oh to take up the solemn vow

To only speak the ancient language` Meow

Its vocabulary, though small

Drives them all up the wall

When I go “meow, Meow, MEOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWW”
