Against My Better Judgement

Against my better judgement, I followed my heart

But now I'm left with scars and a broken part

For I knew deep down it was all a mistake

But I couldn't resist the pull, the risk I had to take

My head was screaming 'stop, don't do this'

But my heart was singing, a sweet, alluring bliss

I knew it wasn't right, I knew I should say no

But the thrill of the unknown, made my resolve slow

Against my better judgement, I gave in to desire

But now I'm left with regret, like a burning fire

For I ignored the warning signs, the red flags

And now I'm paying the price, my heart in shreds and rags

I knew I should have listened to reason and logic

But I let my emotions dictate, my judgement toxic

And now I'm left with the consequences of my choice

Wishing I had silenced the inner voice

Against my better judgement, I followed a path

That led me astray, into the depths of wrath

For I let my heart lead, instead of my mind

And now I'm left with nothing but sorrow to find

I should have known better, I should have been strong

But I let my emotions guide me, led me along

Now I'm left to face the consequences of my deed

And I wonder if I'll ever find the strength to heal and be freed

Against my better judgement, I went against my gut

And now I'm left with regrets, in this never-ending rut

But I've learned my lesson, the hard way it seems

That sometimes, going against your better judgement can shatter your dreams.
