Afterlife

By Amrutha L

She was looking between the stars,

Aiming to land amongst them,

Blessed with abundance, yet

Cornered into nothingness,

She threw herself off the ledge too many times,

Bouncing back like a ball each time,

Chances were held out, prayers were answered,

Nonetheless, nothing stopped her now,

Now, she is the pixelated star dust,

That once shone like none other,

As we carry her amongst our memories -

She did not choose something that made her weak,

She was never weak,

She was just brave enough to believe in the afterlife.
