ആർത്തവം

രഹസ്യമല്ല അത്,

ശരീരത്തിന്റെ സംഗീതമാണ് -

നിശ്ശബ്ദമായി മുഴങ്ങുന്ന

ജീവന്റെ ആദിമ താളം.

ഓരോ മാസവും

വേദനയുടെ വാതിൽ തുറന്ന്

രക്തപ്പൂക്കൾ വിരിയുമ്പോൾ,

സ്ത്രീ ഒരിക്കൽ കൂടി

സൃഷ്ടിയുടെ ശക്തി ഓർക്കുന്നു.

അവളുടെ നടപ്പിൽ

ഒന്നു മന്ദഗതിയുണ്ടാകാം,

കണ്ണുകളിൽ

ഒരു ക്ഷീണത്തിന്റെ നിഴൽ.

എങ്കിലും ഉള്ളിൽ -

പുതുജീവനെ വരവേൽക്കാൻ

തയ്യാറായ ഭൂമിപോലെ

അവൾ സമർപ്പിതയാണ്.

ലജ്ജയുടെ മറയിലൊതുക്കേണ്ട

വസ്തുവല്ല അത്,

വെളിച്ചത്തിൽ പറയേണ്ട

സത്യമാണ്.

ആർത്തവം -

വേദനയും അഭിമാനവും ചേർന്ന

ഒരു ചുവന്ന കവിത,

സ്ത്രീയുടെ ശരീരത്തിൽ

പ്രതിമാസം എഴുതപ്പെടുന്ന

ജീവന്റെ ഉറപ്പ്.
