A Star Calling To The Moon

Updated: Jul 14, 2025

By Dr. Yash Minaxi Joshi

A lot of universes I see

And in every universe I look for you,

For you were the only one ever, for me

And I’d sincerely hoped that, for you, I was too.

There were moments of distance between us two

And there were moments of silence as well,

But we always seemed to make it through

And I thought maybe you were completely out of your shell.

Oh, how wrong I was in thinking so!

And oh! How you ruined me!

I was waiting for you, and that you knew

And still you never saw us as ‘we’.

I was stranded on this dark path alone

And you were my only ray of light,

Now all I have left is a heart of stone

And the doors to it have been sealed tight.

I used to think that you were my moon

And I wanted to be a star to you,

But you thought that it was too soon

And now I can’t see a way through.

But I still wait for you every day, just like I did before

And I’m hoping to be your light too,

For every moon requires starlight to shine more

And I would keep burning for eternity, if it’s for you.
