A Song Burning In The Embers

The song of ember fills the air

Their faces churn, tummies flare

Yet, amidst adversity, they persevere.

Summer- I remember,

A word once held so dear,

Has now turned into a despicable nightmare.

The heat, piercing,

Solus shows no mercy,

Burning the world to no end,

Hats and umbrellas, vain to defend.

I see it not, to an extent,

But the wall breaks,

I begin to lament.

Among the hands that shot this scene

There are mine, with a look so pristine,

For moments of cooling bliss,

What have I done! Everything's amiss!

Her pain I'm unable to feel,

Pain that stifles her zeal,

Draining every color from my day,

Pray tell, how to repay?

Chaotic night, worries array,

Halted heart begins to sway

The heat holds strength, to my dismay.

I'm bound in shackles unnamed,

Ones that I've always blamed,

For they have kept me sane.

I can't see any chances

In which a peacock dances.

My ears hear her groan,

And that alone,

Dyes me grey.

The ember that berates the day.
