A Series of Unanswered Questions

By Varenya Shekhar

Why does the colour of the skin which runs throughout me, and many more make a difference? Why are some people so stuck up with their primitive thoughts who have randomly assigned differences to base discrimination? We walk the same land, and are creations of one species, so why must we face different consequences? Why must we be categorised by our race? Why does race have to be a basis for categorization, and why does anyone have to be categorised in the first place? No two beings are equal; inequality a naturally recurring phenomenon, but why do we have to make it a basis for degrading people? We are born a certain way, into different societal groups, and that is unanimous. We set foot on this earth, and breathe our last breaths in it. Why must where we hail from act as a barrier? Has humanity reached one of the lowest levels where being of a different colour is now considered a crime? If so, we have committed no misdemeanor except for simply existing.
