A Quiet Conversation

You never knew me,

just another shadow in your light.

and now you’re gone.

Are you looking at me,

from wherever you are?

You did well.

You gave me life

when I was barely holding on,

a flicker between nights.

You were the autumn leaf

vanishing into winter.

I would have disappeared too,

lost in the cold.

But you changed everything,

your drops of light

faded my darkness,

and now,

even though you’re gone,

your star still burns in me.

A light that will guide me through the dark.
