A Quiet Companion

Updated: Jul 18, 2025

By Aksa Shafi

In the midst of life's chaotic sea,

I search for someone who can be

a calm within the storm, a peaceful place

where I can sit in silence and find my space.

When the world within me is loud and clear,

and my thoughts are racing, and my heart is here,

I need someone who can sit with me

in quiet contemplation, wild and free.

Not someone who will try to fix the noise

or offer words of wisdom or joyful joys,

but someone who can sit in stillness too

and let the silence speak and see me through.

A quiet companion, who can be with me

in the midst of turmoil, and set me free

from the chains of anxiety and the weight of fear

and let me find my peace and wipe away my tears.

For in the quiet moments, I find my strength,

and in the stillness, I hear my heart's length.

And with a quiet companion by my side,

I can face the world and let my spirit glide.

So let us sit in silence, you and I,

and let the world within us quietly set free.

And in the stillness, let our hearts entwine,

and find the peace that we've been searching to define.
