A Quagmire And a Diveboard
By Vibha GR
I like metaphors, I dwell in them
And life now seems to fit inside the spectacle of travelling in a bus journey
Alone, yet surrounded
I’ve got company
But no shoulder that rests my heavy head and a burdensome heart
They will gladly bear it to some extent
But will I,
Will I ever be able to put my head on the backrest,my shoulder relaxing
Not taut, not thinking about a stop
A quintessential mile from mine
Thinking time but may zoom all fast
Thinking and thinking
Running and falling
All the reprimanding
My eyes threaten to close
My sanity on the edge of a jagged cliff
The murky waters of sleep lulling me
But will I ever take the leap
A rock a mile away ,a diving board at the shallow end
Will I ever get to jump
A million harnesses surround me
And yet I see no positivity
No anchor ,no tether
I check the strap
I check it twice
A trillion times
Yet I cannot jump
What if I miss
It is a diving board
What if I fall
Someone will catch me
No they won’t
Peg your spine ,we are running out of time
I’ve got no other safety lines
But a million of mine
I’ve got to do it all
I may fall
But I have got to do it all
