A Pledge

I will make my self big.

I will not shirk so I can fit in your box of who you think I am

I will not cower, step back so you can lick your paws, mend your wounds

I will not hold back my thoughts, my beliefs so you can feel better about yourself

I will make sure you know exactly who I am.

I will make myself big

I will not sit tight so you can man spread and take up all my space

I will not sit back and let you mansplain ‘so I’m at your pace’

I will not hold back and let you manipulate me any more

I will make my self big.

I will no longer become small. I am small enough.

I will no longer bite me tongue. I will speak what’s on mind

I will no longer hide. I will right what you wronged

I will no longer allow myself to shrink so that you feel good about yourself

I will make my self big

I will be as mighty as the mountains

As strong as the sea

As wild as the wind

If need be

I will make myself big

So when I walk into the room, I will be heard

I will be seen

And I will be feared
