A Place of Her Own
By Aritrika Mitra
The conch blows,
The dhaks roll,
Embracing the pious weather
And field full of Kashful.
She who lives in her own land
Seeks the unknown.
The breeze emanates the sweet scent
Of incense of sandalwood.
The sky so azure
Gives delight to its spectators.
Her world of ecstasy knows no bounds.
The meadows full of colours
Presenting a gift to each.
A show worth the visit
Is definite in its own ways.
The diversity discovered is the talk of deliberations.
The leaves fall
Offering its opulent treasures.
The chirps and melodies
Of the forest reaches the hearts of all.
The song embedded in her strives to flourish in the world.
She runs amidst the bamboo bush
Full of spirit and energy.
An urge surges within her,
A will to do something new,
The strength to fulfill the quest of her destiny.
The dry month advances,
A ray of light seeps through the mist.
The Shiuli blossoms,
The ambience of merriment settles in.
Ma soon arrives
Bringing home the place to call her own.
