On a nondescript lane of Siddharthnagar, was Sweety Novelty Stores, a tiny shop, where you could find anything from gifts to novelty items. Khushi loved going there. There was always something interesting that she would find there and later convince her parents to buy. Today, she was scanning through the art and crafts section. She found an interesting sand art kit. She rushed to her mother. “Ma, can we buy this one?”, she asked with eagerness written all over eyes. But her mother was in no mood to listen. She was busy looking at some photo frames. Khushi found an interesting Chota Bheem frame. She loved it. “Ma, I found the perfect frame”, pointing out to the frame. But her mother
dismissed her. She finally selected a big wooden frame and was done with her shopping. Khushi was disappointed. She got nothing this time. Reluctantly, with a sense of resignation, she headed home with her mother. A few days later when she returned home from school, she saw a new addition to her study table: the Chota Bheem photo frame. She rushed with excitement and lifted it off the desk. “Papa, when are you coming home? It’s been a month.”, she squealed when she saw two of her favourite characters together. She rushed out to thank her mother. Her mother was hanging a sandalwood garland on the wooden photo frame. Her hand gently moved over the picture and stopped at ‘Capt. Rajendra Yadav (1986 – 2021). She quickly wiped a single tear that had escaped and turned around and smiled at her 8-year-old. “Did you like the surprise?”
